JC Penney’s new ad for Father’s Day
The text reads:
“First Pals: What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver—all rolled into one. Or two.” The text at the bottom reads: “Real-life dads, Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.”

Good job, JCPenney.

Four for you, JC Penney.

You go JC Penney!

Because instantly alienating a huge chunk of your demographic through offensive humour is the best way to sell soda pop. (x)

When I finish a book I sort of feel like I’m cheating on it if I start reading a new one immediately afterwards.

I just finished reading An Abundance of Katherines.

Aside from his zombie novella and ‘Let it Snow,’ I’ve now read every book written by John Green.

Why didn’t anyone make this sooner? I hate when people only use the word “said” in stories.

“To write adverbs is human, to write he said or she said is divine” - Stephen King.

I would like to respectfully disagree with this post.
Most of the time, ‘said’ is your best bet. People don’t notice ‘said,’ it just flows with the rest of the text. When a writer tries to constantly use different words instead of said, it gets annoying. You can tell they’re trying desperately to find as many synonyms as possible, when most of the time ‘said’ would suffice.
I remember there being a massive debate about this on the NaNo forums when someone posted a similar list. The general consensus was that ‘said’ is usually best.
